Have you finished your twelfth standard and waiting for your results? Are you excited about getting into a college? In that case you should know these things. Firstly, you should accept one truth. It’s all going to change. You no longer are going to remain a school kid who used to mount a heavy bag on shoulders to the school. You will be stepping into the ‘grown ups’ shoes. You will no more be treated like the way you were treated by your teachers back in school. And most importantly you will have no uniforms to wear to the classes (very few colleges insist you to wear them). The following points are few among those which you should keep in mind before getting into the apparent dream world called college.

Wear nice clothes

It is said that the beauty is skin deep but not whole world believes in that. Now it doesn’t mean you have to shut the whole world out just because they are materialistic when it comes to lifestyle. You are obviously going to be a laughing stock for others if you are going to wear that sweater of yours which has the logo of your school on it. So why not try stylish winter coats for men instead? Much needn’t be said to girls about the dress sense as they always have the upper hand when it comes to fashion trends!

Speak sense!

This one thing you really got to pull your threads on. You are not that person anymore who used to make illogical jokes just to make the classmates laugh. If you are going to do it you are not going to be laughed with but are going to be laughed at. It would be really sensible if you talked only when required.

Be confident

You don’t have to freak out thinking about the weird situations that might occur in the college which would embarrass you. You don’t have to worry if you are going to be ragged on. Just be confident and let the people around you know that you are not docile. Stay strong. It’s all on you. You aren’t going to be dependent on anybody else. You should know to deal with the things you might have to come across and very importantly you should know to deal them with utmost confidence.

Make good friends

Not all of those who stayed with you in the school are going to come with you to the same college as yours. And you don’t have to brood over it. Life has to move on and change is the only constant. Learn to adapt to them. Doesn’t mean you should quit being social. Make nice friends who interest you in them. No ‘thing’ lasts forever. But moments that you share with your dear ones will.

All that being said it’s high time you made modifications to your life and sneak into yet another awesome phase of your life called “the college life”. So people, welcome to college!!!
